M'Pai Bay features some of the best Koh Rong Samloem restaurants for Western and Khmer food, even though we are a small village. You will be surprised and delighted at the range of food options available in our little beachside oasis.
Tacos & Trivia Thursdays at Wildflower
I love it when Thursday rolls around again, so I can get my taco fix. These little pockets of joy come with a variety of fillings from fish, to mexican bean, to pulled chicken. There's always a bunch of sides on the menu for hungry bellies and to top it all off, dinner on Thursdays is always followed by Wildflower's famous quiz night. Be warned, the quiz is not for the faint of heart, it's challenging and the final round requires a little more creativity than your normal pub quiz!
At the present moment, Wildflower is only open on Thursday nights but the tacos are so good I would almost recommend you arrange your trip to M'Pai Bay to coincide with a Thursday, so you can be here to try them!
Chilli Cheese ANYTHING from Bong's
When it comes to my favourite foods, there's no stopping me. I'm the first to order every time this comes up on the Bong's specials list, and it's 100% worth it, every time. Served on fries or on a baked potato the beef chilli is mild, but it's the sour cream and the guac that make it so damn delicious. Like most of the serving sizes when you eat in M'Pai Bay, this is a big meal, so make sure you're hungry!
Bong's is open from 12pm to 8pm Friday to Tuesday and is our most consistent restaurant in M'Pai Bay, so you will most likely find yourself eating here a time or two when you visit. Their menu has plenty of favourites, plus the best burgers on the island. A few other honourable mentions on my list of favourites include the quesadillas, nachos, and the Mexican burger.
Fried Noodles from Kunthea's Kitchen
In my opinion, this is the best Khmer food in all of M'Pai Bay. Husband and wife team Hadrian and Kunthea put together a range of yummy Khmer dishes with a touch of western influence to produce huge portions of tasty food to feed the masses. But this is not your typical Khmer restaurant, it is a simple stall in our short market strip with your basic red plastic chairs and a communal table to eat at.
If you're looking for a good quality and hygenic Khmer restaurant, this is the one that really hits the spot. Kunthea's Kitchen is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner most days so no matter when you decide to visit, you know you've got a tasty meal at the ready and if you're feeling particularly lazy they deliver too!
Seapony Bagels
What is life if it doesn't include bagels? At M'Pai Bay's main café they serve an incredible range of food and drinks from fresh juices and espresso coffee to breakfast burritos and hipster avo on toast but no matter what I choose to order from their menu, it's the homemade bagels that have really stolen my heart. From the Pesto Melt, which was my first favourite, to the Veggie Bagel or the absolutely delicious Hollandaise Bagel, no matter which one you choose you just can't go wrong.
This is the place where I have to issue a warning for the sake of your stomach... The serving sizes are HUGE! If you're starving, or you're just looking for the perfect chilled breakfast place to eat in M'Pai Bay, Seapony's got you covered. Seapony is open from Wednesday to Sunday every week from 8:30am to 3pm and is tucked away behind the main beachfront in a quiet jungle setting.
Berit's Pies
As an Aussie in Cambodia, I'm always on the lookout for a good meat pie and while they were hard to come by when I first moved here years ago, they seem to be popping up in all the cities these days. Imagine my surprise when I moved to this tiny fishing village and found out that I could get one of my favourite foods on earth in my little beachside home! Berit's Pies are served as a special one or two days a week, depending on the demand. The choice of the day could be steak and pepper, chicken and vegetable or one of her more inspired creations all made by hand and baked to perfection.
Berit's Pies are now being served at The Azure (imagine how happy I am about this) on Wednesday nights and at Dragonfly on Friday nights to keep those cravings from home perfectly satisfied.
M'Pai Bay - An Undiscovered Foodie Haven
Though most wouldn't think of M'Pai Bay as a foodie destination in Cambodia, our guests are always surprised and delighted about the food choices they have when they arrive, and we never let anyone go hungry. As a matter of fact, the food here is so good it's even got it's own Facebook Group, so you can keep up with the latest trends and specials in our little foodie haven. Pair all of this with our collection of fun little bars dotted around the village, and you've got yourself a bit of an unknown foodie paradise to explore for a few days.
